We are seeking talented bilingual individuals for Face to Face Interpreting. We seek interpreters who are qualified to interpret in fields such as healthcare, insurance, finance, legal and many other areas. We require our interpreters to participate in several training and mentoring programs before they begin their careers with Telelanguage. Nationally accepted codes of ethics and standards of practice are routinely reviewed throughout the interpreter's training to ensure we are providing the most professional services possible.
Interpreter should be fluent in English and one (1) or more languages with both oral and written skills. A strong medical vocabulary is preferred.
Should have a familiarity and ability to work with diversity of cultural and socio-economic background.
Ability to assess and comprehend original message and render it in the target language without omissions, additions or distortions.
Should have ability to identify cross cultural obstacles to medical care.
Follow Telelanguage Code of Ethics, Confidentiality Agreement, and HIPPA Guidelines.
Exhibit professional behavior at all times.
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent listening skills.
Have good memory retention skills.
Follow assignment instructions and training guides.
Take notes during the interpretation assignment to ensure accuracy of the information given.
Accept or decline appointment requests in a timely manner via email.
Improve interpreting skills through training.
Should be at least eighteen (18) years of age, and authorized to work in the United States.
Pass a Medical Proficiency Test. A medical glossary of common medical terms used in the clinic will be available for interpreter use.
Copy of immunization records.
Be willing to take a TB test and drug screen (if TB is positive must be willing to take chest x-ray.
Flexible schedule and accept on-call assignments during business hours and sporadic weekends.
Experience in field of expertise (e.g., medical interpreters include medical school graduates, registered nurses and medical assistants).
Assignments are generally between Monday – Friday, 0800–1700 PST.
